Dear Parish Family and Friends,,
For most of us, it’s a very busy time of year: We’re facing many
pressures, demands, and expectations. And many in our community are facing
terrible things with the recent tornado and the after effects. As we all
go through these days leading up to Christmas, along with our normal
responsibilities, there is decorating to be done, gifts to be bought,
cards to be sent, and holiday gatherings to be attended and hosted. I
think it’s true... it’s all part of the JOY of the season. And yet, the
“rush” of theSeason may leave us feeling overwhelmed, stressed out, and
unable to focus on what the point of our preparations, and what the point
of this Holy Season, is all about.
That’s why in the midst of all our
busyness, the Liturgy presents us with the figure of Saint John the
Baptist.. the voice cryingout in the wilderness, Prepare the way of the
Lord, make straight his paths. His message was direct and clear: Repent!
Changeyour life, and get it in order... set things straight with God... Keep
the Lord at the center of your life...
