Outreach Service to Those in Need

Catholics Come Home
A program designed to invite Catholics who have wandered from a devout practice of the Catholic Faith, back to the Church. People leave for a variety of reasons, this program will hopefully help to reconcile them back with the Church. Besides people joining the process, we also need parishioners to volunteer to help support the program in a variety of ways. Visit the Joliet Diocese website

Marthas
The Marthas is the Parish’s Funeral Luncheon Committee.  With Saint Martha as their patron saint, for 25 years parishioners in this ministry has provided funeral luncheons for families of deceased members here at the parish.  They serve the meal in Berst hall following the funeral and burial.  There is something powerful about the gift of being able to give a family comfort, no matter what form, during their time of bereavement.  If you would like to donate a baked item, join the Marthas and help with the preparation of the meal or assist with the serving, set up and clean up at these Funeral luncheons please call the Parish Office.

Minister of Care
Father Noesen makes First Friday Communion calls and visitations when requested.  Ministers of Care assist in this ministry by bring Holy Communion to those who wish to receive more than once a month. This is a most rewarding opportunity, a real chance to build a faith relationship with another person. To serve as a Minister of Care, an individual must be a Baptized and Confirmed member of the Catholic Church; a registered and active parishioner of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, living a life in harmony with the teachings of the Catholic Church [i.e., if the person is married, they must be married according to the law of the Church]. Training will be provided.

Saint Vincent de Paul Society
The Saint Vincent de Paul Society is a group of individuals organized within Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, under the wider structure of the Joliet Diocesan Saint Vincent de Paul Society, and is part of the International organization as well. Members of the Society can contact you to discuss the various levels of involvement. A variety of ways to donate goods and services can also be discussed.

Saint Vincent de Paul Society also operates six retail stores in our area; please click here for additional information.

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish Monday Evening Meal for the Needy
Each Monday evening in Berst hall members of our St. Vincent DePaul Society and others from our parish offer a hot meal to those who are hungry and who cannot afford to feed their families. Opportunities for assistance with the program can be discussed with Mrs. Pam Middleton.

PADS Shelter
The PADS shelter at Immaculate Conception Parish is open each Friday from October through April. It provides a place to sleep, eat dinner and breakfast, as well as a sack lunch to go. If you would like to volunteer for our Parish please contact Joanne Morrall at 815 942-8389 or Kris Werden 815 942-5338.
